On a month-on-month basis, CPI turned down 0.4 per cent from a 1.0 per cent rise last month. Among them, food prices fell by 0.9 from 3.2 per cent last month, affecting CPI by about 0.19 percentage points, while non-food prices fell by 0.2 per cent from 0.4 per cent last month, affecting CPI by about 0.18 percentage points. The price of refined oil was adjusted twice, gasoline and diesel prices rose by 3.6 per cent and 4.0 per cent, respectively, while clothing prices rose by 0.6 per cent.
On a year-on-year basis, CPI rose 2.3 per cent, an increase of 0.8 percentage points over the previous month. Among them, food prices rose by 4.1, affecting CPI by about 0.82 percentage points; non-food prices rose by 1.8, affecting CPI by about 1.46 percentage points. It is estimated that of the 2.3 per cent year-on-year increase in March, the carry-over effect of last year's price changes was about 1.1 percentage points, and the impact of new price increases was about 1.2 percentage points.
PPI month-on-month from decline to rise, year-on-year increase slightly expanded
On a month-on-month basis, PPI turned up 0.1 per cent from a 0.1 per cent decline last month. Among them, the prices of means of production rose by 0.2 per cent from flat last month, while the prices of means of subsistence fell to flat from last month. Among the major industries, the increase was in the oil and gas extraction industry, which rose 5.6 percent, an increase of 0.6 percentage points over the previous month; the oil, coal and other fuel processing industry, which rose 2.3 percent, an increase of 1.4 percentage points; and the ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry, which rose 1.1 percent, an increase of 0.8 percentage points. The decline narrowed in the computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry, down 0.2 percent, or 0.6 percentage points, while the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, down 0.1 percent, or 0.3 percentage points. Auto manufacturing prices turned flat from a decline last month. Coal mining and washing industry prices fell by 0.1, the same decline as last month.
On a year-on-year basis, PPI rose 0.4 per cent, an increase of 0.3 percentage points over the previous month. Among them, the price of means of production rose by 0.3 per cent from a decline last month, while the price of means of living rose by 0.5 per cent, an increase of 0.1 percentage points over the previous month. Among the major sectors, oil and gas extraction, up 9.7 per cent, and oil, coal and other fuel processing, up 3.5 per cent. The decline narrowed in the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, down 1.8 percent, down 0.2 percentage points from the previous month; the ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry, down 1.5 percent, down 0.5 percentage points; and the automobile manufacturing industry, down 0.6 percent, narrowed 0.1 percentage points. In addition, prices in the computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry rose 0.2 percent, an increase of 0.1 percentage points over the previous month. It is estimated that of the 0.4 per cent year-on-year increase in March, the carry-over impact of last year's price changes was about 0.9 percentage points, and the impact of new price increases was about -0.5 percentage points.
